Operating energy assets in the Niger Delta carries a duty of care to the ecosystems we share with our host communities. We provide energy responsibly, limiting environmental impact wherever we can, and acting decisively when challenges arise.
Four areas of focus.
Spill prevention & response
Well-designed facilities, safe operations, and the equipment and expertise required to respond when incidents occur. Our work with the Aleto Clan is one example of pipeline repair, crude oil recovery, and progressive clean-up in practice.
Biodiversity & ecosystems
We apply stringent standards in areas rich in biodiversity, with particular attention to the wetland environments of the Niger Delta where much of our operation is based.
Air quality & emissions
We work to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide and volatile organic compounds from our operations, while improving overall energy efficiency across the asset base.
Fresh water
We tailor water use to local conditions and apply approaches and technologies that reduce demand on local fresh water sources where alternatives are available.
EIAs on every development project.
In line with Nigerian law, we complete Environmental, Social and Health Impact Assessments on all our development projects. The aim is to identify and reduce the environmental and social impact of our activities, and to find benefits for the communities we host.
Our first Sustainability Report is in preparation.
Renaissance is preparing its inaugural Sustainability Report, capturing performance data across health, community investment, education, capacity building and environmental stewardship. We will publish it on this page as soon as it's released.
